When do I need a Doctor's referral for Physiotherapy?

Workers compensation claims - if you are seeking treatment for a work related injury
Third party or CTP insurance - if you have sustained an injury in an accident
Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)
When the doctor put you on a medicare care plan - Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan
For having a cast put on, and taken off

If you are a private patient with or without a private health fund, you do not need a doctor's referral.

How long are the appointments?

The length of the appointments will be determined by your treating therapist and will vary depending on the complexity of your injury or condition and the treatment method or intervention required. We ensure our patients receive optimal contact time with their treating therapist.

Standard initial appointment - 40 minutes
Standard follow-up appointment - 20 minutes

Complex initial appointment - 60 minutes
Complex follow-up appointment - 40 minutes

Cast applications - up to 1 hour

What do I need to bring?

Come appropriately dress knowing that you will be required to disrobe in order to expose the affected or injured body part for optimal examination and treatment. We will provide you with appropriate draping and clothing if you require it.
Any referrals, medical investigations and imaging you may have
Workers compensation - doctor's referral, claim number, insurance company details
CTP and third party - your doctor's referral and insurance claim details
Post-operative care - hospital discharge summary and surgeon's referral letter
Private patient - private health fund (if you have one)
