A Sports Physiotherapist has been awarded this Title following rigorous postgraduate training. They apply advanced clinical reasoning, assessment skills and treatment of acute and persistent sporting injuries, and the management of recreational to elite athletes. A titled sports physiotherapist is highly competent with treating and managing on field and off field injuries, injury prevention and sports specific conditioning and performance monitoring, and individualised exercise and rehabilitation programs. In order to maintain their title Sports Physiotherapist must maintain their professional development and knowledgeby attending courses, being exposed to the most current medical research.
An APA Titled Sports Physiotherapist will:
Diagnose, treat and manage your sporting injury in a comprehensive and timely manner
Provide you with the appropriate information regarding your injury, the return to sport management plan, and prognosis
Rehabilitation and conditioning programs for effective and timely return to sport / competition
Correspondence with your coach or trainer for collaboration and to optimise your return to sport
